Rana ASIF is the founder of hockey in Cambodia. Contrary of what most of the people think, this sport was not created in England but originally in China, thousand and thousand years ago before arriving in our country in 2000. Mister ASIF was a polyvalent athlete: horse rider, swimmer, and gymnast. But he finally chose to dedicate his life to hockey which is a very popular sport in his native country, Pakistan. He is from this kind of people who never give up. During 10 years, the Cambodian players appeared and disappeared but now he begins to collect the fruit of his efforts…

As the national coach, Rana ASIF defines hockey as a football with stick. There are many ways to play this sport: on field, indoor, on ice, with rollers, on sand and even in the street! But in Cambodia only indoor and field hockey are practiced; and with success for the under 18 years old women who have just won a bronze medal at the 2015 indoor Asia cup. This is an excellent performance for Cambodia as hockey is particularly played in the common wealth. There are only around 7 teams in the whole country but coach Rana, who lives in Cambodia for 17 years, is entrusting for the 2023 SEA games which will be held in Phnom Penh, especially if indoor hockey and hockey 5 are in the official program.
