The role of GAIS is to provide knowledge that could be responsive to the changing work environment and offer tools to help discover students’ true passions. “Caring Egg Project” get students excited about learning because they represent a personalized approach that inspires students to succeed.
For GAIS, setting the stage for this inspiration is a very important part of students’ engagement with “Caring Egg Project”. Through project fairs and other showcase events, students see what’s possible and learn from their peers how rewarding it can be to complete a truly personal project. When school builds a culture of possibility that celebrates learning, students respond by doing their best and building critical thinking skills.
How can we build the “Critical Thinking Skills” for your child at an early stage? Storytelling can be an effective strategy for brain development of a child. However, if your child just listens to a story and says very little, he/she won’t have much opportunity to build and use the critical thinking skills he/she needs to understand stories and involve in real process of practicing.
So, as teachers and your children talk about the story, they need to exercise their critical thinking skills to deepen their understanding of the story at four steps below.
1. Experiences — Connect the story with your child's knowledge and experiences
2. Explain — Why things happen
3. Problem-solve — How to solve the problem
4. Predict — What will happen in the future
