Keeping hands clean is one of the most important steps we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. Many diseases and conditions are spread by not washing hands with soap/liquid and clean, running water. Handwashing with soap/liquid removes germs from hands. This helps prevent infections because:

Kids frequently touch their eyes, nose, and mouth without even realizing it. Germs can get into the body through the eyes, nose and mouth and make them sick. Germs from unwashed hands can get into foods and drinks while people prepare or consume them. Germs can multiply in some types of foods or drinks, under certain conditions, and make kids sick. Germs from unwashed hands can be transferred to other objects, like handrails, table tops, or toys, and then transferred to another person’s hands. Removing germs through hand-washing therefore helps prevent diarrhea and respiratory infections and may even help prevent skin and eye infections.

What will happen if you do not wash your hands?

You can infect yourself with these germs by touchingyour eyes, nose or mouth. Although it's impossible tokeep your hands germ-free, washing your hands frequentlycan help limit the transfer of bacteria, viruses and othermicrobes. Here are 7 steps of how to wash your hand:

1-Wet your hands with running water -either warm or cold.

2-Apply liquid, bar or powder soap to a cupped hand.

3-Lather well.

4-Rub your hands, palm to palm,
vigorously for at least 20 seconds.

5-Rinse well.

6-Dry your hands with a clean towel.

7-Use the towel to turn off the faucet.
