BANGKOK, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Election Commission (EC) on Thurday announced to hold a by-election at six polling units due to discrepancy of votes.

In a press statement released on Thursday, the EC announced that the by-election, the schedule for which are yet to be decided by the polling agency, has resulted from contradictory figures between the number of votes counted and the number of voters who went to the polls in the March 24 election of MPs.

The polling units where the by-election will be held include two units in Constituency 4 of Lampang province, one in Constituency 2 of Yasothon province, one in Constituency 1 of Phetchabun province, one in Constituency 2 of Phitsanulok province, and one in Constituency 13 of Bangkok, according to the EC statement.

Meanwhile, the votes earlier cast in the March 24 election in two polling units in Constituency 3 of Khon Kaen province will be recounted.
