The 4th ASEAN-EU Cooperation and Scholarship 2021 concluded on a high note with closing remarks from EU Ambassador to ASEAN, Igor Driesmans and ASEAN Deputy Secretary General for Socio Cultural Community, Kung Phoak.

The two-day event brought together EU funded projects in the region, education agencies and scholarship providers from both ASEAN and EU Member States, and ASEAN youth.

Attended by over 4500 ASEAN students, the event also brought together ASEAN youth leaders in a series of talk shows and discussion sessions. Yin Mazatin, winner of the ASEAN Data Science Explorers of the ASEAN Foundation shared his journey of mastering data analytics in a special session on ‘Emerging data scientist’. Using technology to empower small busineses in Cambodia, Seng Rothsethamony with her Bamnang Creative Innovation spoke in the ‘Go Digital: How businesses can thrive during & post-COVID-19’ session.

As both speakers exchanged ideas and experiences with speakers from other ASEAN countries, the event is a testament as to how digitalization enhances connectivity, a topic that drives Kounila Keo to establish her blog www.wheninphnompenh.com in ‘Connecting youth, creating impacts’.

Empowering ASEAN youth as the future of the region remains as one of the key priorities for the EU. Besides the annual ASEAN-EU Cooperation and Scholarship Day, the EU Delegation to ASEAN also holds regular bimonthly ASEAN Youth Talkshow and is currently holding an ASEAN Youth Photography Competition to further empower youth to use photography as a medium of expression.  Information on youth related events and EU-ASEAN cooperation is regularly updated on the @euinasean social media channels.
